Timothy R. Slater serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the National Insurance Crime Bureau. In this capacity, he has oversight of all field operations throughout the United States and Mexico, both field and headquarters-based intelligence and analytics activities, partner engagement & member services, and learning and development. Through a combined effort of all of these programs, and in partnership with all NICB programs, Mr. Slater is responsible for leading NICB’s continued growth into a more data-driven organization – an effort anchored by the 100+ years of high-quality traditional investigative and analytical support provided by the organization in leading the fight against insurance fraud and crime.

Immediately prior to assuming his role at NICB, Mr. Slater held the position of Assistant Director in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Washington Field Office, where he was responsible for providing executive and strategic leadership to personnel tasked with protecting the nation’s capital and greater United States from all threats domestically and abroad. As a recipient of several executive leadership awards, he has been recognized for his ability to successfully solve complex problems and manage teams, strengths which contributed to his selections as Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of multiple FBI Divisions including the Detroit Division and the Criminal and Cyber Division of the Washington Field Office, where he was honored with the United States Capitol Police Medal of Merit.

Mr. Slater was nominated and selected by C Level Focus as one of 2024’s Top 10 Inspiring COOs.

Mr. Slater holds a Masters of Science from the Michigan State University Eli Broad School of Business, continued his education at the Yale School of Management and is an executive graduate of the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
